Having topped the individual medals table for the fourth consecutive year with seven golds, Brazil cruised past Cuba 4-0 in the team final at the Villa Deportiva Nacional in Peru's capital city.

They have now taken the title on the last three occasions the team event has ran in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

The decisive point in the final came courtesy of Juscelino Nascimento Jr in the men's over-100 kilograms category, as he defeated the Cuban individual champion for the weight category in Andy Granda.

Brazil's team captain Maria Portela and individual bronze medallist overcame Yusmari Reyes Laffita in the women's under-70kg event by scoring an ippon, a feat matched by women's over-78kg individual champion Beatriz Souza against Naomis Elizarde.

Men's under-90kg silver medallist Marcelo Gomes beat Yasel Baeza Diaz with a waza-ari in the other contest in the final.

The victory over Cuba followed a dominant 4-0 victory over Dominican Republic, and a 4-1 triumph over Australia.

Portela lauded the efforts of her team-mates in clinching gold.

"It's very nice to compete in teams and showing the strength that we have," the Brazilian team captain said.

"All the athletes did their best there and it is obvious that the path would be to be champion, because we are very strong, we have already shown in this Championships how united and determined we are to reach the gold medal and in any team competition."

Dominican Republic and Australia took the bronze medals in the mixed team event.
