Jersey has added six athletes to its team for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, including 14-year-old table tennis player Hannah Silcock.

The youngster is the reigning British under-15 champion and won three gold medals at the British and Irish Home Nations International.

She started playing table tennis at the age of seven, when she joined the "Girls for Gold" initiative at the Geoff Read Table Tennis Centre in St Helier.

Jordan Wykes has also been picked in table tennis for Jersey, while the latest intake includes two cyclists and two runners.

Emily Bridson and Lisa Mansell have been named by the Channel Island in the women's mountain bike cross-country, while Katelyn Ridgway will run the marathon.

Zachary Saunders, who is based in New Zealand but has family from Jersey, will compete over 100 metres and 200m.

Saunders is the New Zealand under-20 champion in both events and his grandfather Martin Hebden is a former President of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey.

Jersey named its first crop of 16 athletes in October, in athletics, bowls, cycling, gymnastics, swimming and triathlon.

Among those picked was swimmer Harry Shalamon, who reached the 50 metres backstroke final at Gold Coast 2018.

Bowlers Derek Boswell and Malcolm De Sousa are both in line to compete at their fourth Games.
