Dipika Pallikal Karthik clinched two titles as India celebrated mixed and women’s success at the World Doubles Squash Championships in Glasgow.

Karthik and Saurav Ghosal attempted to secure India’s maiden title at the World Championships in the mixed doubles final.

The duo proved up to the task by overcoming England’s Adrian Waller and Alison Waters.

Karthik and Ghosal earned a straight games 11-6, 11-8 victory at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre.

India quickly celebrated a second world title with Karthik and Joshna Chinappa triumphing in the women’s doubles event.

The pairing had received a bye in the semi-finals after two-time champions Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy were forced to withdraw, due to the former suffering from injury.

The final saw Karthik and Chinappa overcome tournament second seeds Sarah-Jane Perry and Waters of England 11-9, 4-11, 11-8.

England appeared on course for defeats in all three finals when Scotland’s Scotland’s Greg Lobban and Rory Stewart won the opening game 10-8 in the men’s doubles.

Top seeds Declan James and James Willstrop claimed a closely contested second game 11-10, before winning the decider 11-6 to win the title.

Scotland’s Alan Clyne and Douglas Kempsell were 11-9, 10-11, 11-9 winners over England’s Daryl Selby and Waller in the third place playoff.
