The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) President Kerrith Brown has claimed Poland can possibly host an IMMAF Championship event in the near future following a meeting with MMA Polska President Martin Lewandowski during a trip to Poland.

The key topics discussed in the meeting were the ongoing educational work being executed by the federation, along with the possibility of Poland hosting the 2023 IMMAF European Championships as a demonstration event in the 2023 European Games.

"Martin has done an excellent job and been energetic in educating authorities about amateur mixed martial arts (MMA), and in fostering an understanding among them about the importance of governance and development for the sport," said Brown.

"The groundwork he put into securing our meetings was impressive.

"We look forward to a fruitful working relationship with MMA Polska in furthering the recognition of MMA in Poland and hopefully securing a European MMA Championships as part of the European Games."

President Brown was left impressed with the progress made by the federation so far and managed to visit some potential areas to host future championships.

"We had a look at some of the venues while we were out there, although a decision is still yet to be made by the Government about which city it would take place in," he said.

"Support and appetite for the event are very strong and there is an eagerness to get things secured as early as possible."

Whilst in Poland, Brown had the opportunity to meet with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) representatives to discuss the new WADA process, as well as IMMAF’s dedication to meet with their obligations.

IMMAF was the first international sports governing body to complete WADA’s new application process last year.

He also met with the head of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Kraśnicki, who will be a key supporter of the federation as they move along with the recognition process.

Brown left Poland with positive feelings and emphasised his excitement about the near future for the country.

"The most striking takeaway for me is the strong level of support and a great understanding for MMA that exists among the Polish community and the open welcome given to its sports development," said Brown.

"I am truly excited about the possibility of IMMAF’s 2023 Euros being hosted in Poland."
