Ukraine took two gold medals in the European Wrestling Championships in Budapest as the event entered its fifth day of competition.

Alina Hrushyna Akobiia began proceedings for the Ukrainians with a stunning 6-2 points victory over Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Evelina Georgieva Nikolova of Bulgaria.

The women's under-57-kilograms triumph marked Hrushyna Akobiia's first senior gold medal on the continental stage following a silver at Rome 2020 and bronze at Warsaw 2021.

She dominated Germany's Sandra Paruszewski in the semi-final 8-1 after securing a 10-1 quarter-final win against Poland's Anhelina Lysak.

Hrushyna Akobiia's compatriot Tetiana Rizhko also won at the European Championships for the first time with a 4-0 triumph over World Championships bronze medallist Elis Manolova of Azerbaijan in the women's under-65kg decider.

It was a routine victory in the end for Rizhko who had not conceded a single point in the lead-up to the final, winning her previous three matches 17-0 on aggregate.

Sweden's 21-year-old Emma Malmgren took a shock win in the under-53kg division against Greece's double Mediterranean Games champion Maria Prevolaraki.

Malmgren came from behind to sneak a 3-2 victory with the winning point coming less than 90 seconds before the end of the bout.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Taybe Mustafa Yusein of Bulgaria dispatched Germany's Luisa Niemesch in the under-62kg decider.

Yusein won 7-0 to secure her third gold medal at the European Championships.

The last bout of the day saw Germany's Anna Schell win a thrilling under-72kg encounter with Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu of Turkey.

Schell won European gold for the first time after prevailing 7-6.

She was down 2-0 after the first round but burst into life in the second to run away with the tie.
