The finals of the junior men's and women's air rifle and pistol events took place on the opening day of competition at the European 10 metres Shooting Championships in Hamar, Norway, with double gold for Hungary in the female competitions.

In the women's junior air pistol category gold went to Hungary's Miriam Jako, with silver won by Simal Yilmaz of Turkey and bronze going to Anna Dulce of Moldova.

In the men's junior air pistol discipline gold went to Norway's Mattis Hembre, with silver won by Eduard Baumeister of Germany and bronze going to Daniels Vilcins of Latvia.

In the women's junior air rifle event the gold was won by Hungary's Gitta Bajos, with silver to Pernille Nor-Woll of Norway and bronze to Anna Nagybanyai-Nagy of Hungary.

The men's junior air rifle discipline saw gold go to Danilo Dennis Sollazzo of Italy, with silver to Marko Ivanovic of Serbia and bronze to his compatriot Petar Erdai.

Tomorrow's action will see shooters from across the continent will go through the entire process of qualification, semi-finals and the finals in the air rifle mixed team and air pistol mixed team disciplines.

Qualified athletes will be split into two groups for the semi-finals and then into the final if they do enough to progress in their respective matches.

Following the scheduled conclusion of junior competition on Tuesday (March 22), men's and women's senior competition is due to run from Thursday (March 24) to Sunday (March 27).
