Sturla Holm Lægreid and Tiril Eckhoff pulled off a Norwegian double at the final International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Cup stop of the season in Oslo.

Lægreid powered to the line in 25min 27.1sec in the 10-kilometres sprint to steal victory away from the men's overall standings leader Quentin Fillon Maillet of France.

The Frenchman was 22.4 seconds off the pace as Lægreid claimed just his second win of 20 events, with the first coming in the inaugural race of the year.

Sweden's Sebastian Samuelsson rounded out the top three a further 4.1 seconds back after Fillon Maillet crossed the line, with all three medallists shooting clean.

The win brings Lægreid, a Beijing 2022 team medallist, up to 634 points in the standings in fourth place.

He is just two points away from third place Émilien Jacquelin of France, who finished 30th today in Oslo.

Samuelsson, meanwhile, lost more ground on Fillon Maillet as they have 644 and 924 points respectively.

Eckhoff also took gold for the second time this year.

The Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022 champion finished the women's 7.5km event in 21:28.3 despite being penalised for missing one of the targets on her last trip to the shooting range.

Austrian Lisa Theresa Hauser was unable to capitalise on the mistake and finished with a time of 21:35.3 while three-time Beijing 2022 gold medallist Marte Olsbu Røiseland of Norway bagged bronze just 2.4 seconds later.

Eckhoff is down in 14th overall with the win pushing her up to 467 points while Røiseland kept her points tally ticking over as she is still in pole position, with 855 points.

Elvira Öberg of Sweden is still in second, with 749 points, despite a disappointing display in today's race as she was 1:30.7 away from the leader.

Hitting just two out of five shots in the first shooting round derailed her race very quickly and there was not enough time to rescue a good finish.

Hauser's 631 points see her in third place.

Oslo is the last stop of the season and is set to stage men's 12.5km and women's 10km pursuit races before two final events in the mass start discipline due to take place on Sunday (March 20).
