Olympic silver medallist Ulbing lies second in the women’s World Cup rankings heading into the sixth and final competition at the Slovenian venue.

She is 56 points behind leader Sofiy Nadyrshina, but could claim the World Cup title with the snowboarder absent due to International Ski Federation banning athletes from Russia due to the nation’s invasion of Ukraine.

A third place finish would ensure Ulbing rises above Nadyrshina.

Switzerland’s Ladina Jenny, Austria’s Sabine Schoeffmann and Ramona Theresia Hofmeister of Germany could also secure the parallel giant slalom World Cup title.

Germany’s Stefan Baumeister is poised to secure the men’s title, following two wins and a pair of runners-up finishes this season.

Baumeister has an advantage of 65 points to second placed Lee Sang-ho of South Korea.

Lee would need to triumph in Rogla and hope Baumeister finishes outside the top 10 to secure the season’s crystal globe.

Qualification will take place tomorrow morning, with finals taking place in the afternoon.

Snowboarders will then travel to Bechtesgaden in Germany for the conclusion of the parallel slalom season.

Qualification and finals in the parallel slalom event will be held on Saturday (March 19), with a team event taking place the following day.

Switzerland’s Julie Zogg tops the women’s slalom World Cup standings, with the men’s led by Austria’s Arvid Auner.

Ulbing is in pole position to finish top of the combined women’s giant slalom and slalom standings, with Zogg lying in second place.

Lee and Baumeister are first and second in the men’s leaderboard.
