Diego Elías of Peru and top seed Ali Farag of Egypt reached the final of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Optasia Championship after recording straight-games wins in the semi-finals in London.

Third seed Elías defeated second seed Mohamed ElShorbagy of Egypt impressively, with the 2021 Qatar Classic champion winning 15-13, 11-1, 11-7 against an opponent whose game was affected by continuous errors.

On the other hand, Elías said he was "very happy with my performance today" as he booked himself into the showpiece match at the Wimbledon Club.

There he will face Farag, who ended the fairytale run of unseeded Nicolas Mueller of Switzerland by winning 17-15, 11-5, 11-4.

Mueller started the semi-final strongly and delighted the crowd as he pushed Farag all the way in game one, forcing the Egyptian to save four game balls.

Mueller struggled to replicate that form in the next two games as he fell away but has still enjoyed one of the finest weeks of his career, reaching his first PSA World Tour Gold semi-final.

Victory for Farag means he continues in his quest to win a first major title on English soil, when he takes on Elías in the final tomorrow.
