Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medallist Filip Ude was among the winners on the first day of finals at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Apparatus World Cup in Cottbus.

The Croatian notched 5.7 for difficulty and 8.666 for execution in the men's pommel horse final for a total score of 14.366 at the Lausitz Arena.

Ukraine's Illia Kovtun was second with 14.166, while Brody Malone of the United States pipped Britain's Joshua Nathan to the final medal with his score of 14.133.

Former rings world champion İbrahim Çolak of Turkey earned gold in Cottbus, scoring 6.1 for difficulty and 8.633 for execution to earn a total of 14.733.

Armenia's Vahagn Davtyan took silver with 14.600, while Britain's Courtney Tulloch was third with 14.500.

Yahor Sharamkou of Belarus was the other winner from today's men's finals, despite picking up a 0.1 penalty in the floor event.

He scored 6.1 for difficulty and 7.933 for execution, finishing with 13.933.

Croatia's Aurel Benović picked up a costly 0.2 penalty as he finished second with 13.766, while Italy's Thomas Grasso rounded off the podium with 13.700.

In the women's vault final, Slovenia's Tjaša Kysselef posted a superb 13.433 on her first attempt, and a 12.933 on her second to average 13.183.

Ofir Netzer of Israel was second with a 12.983 from her two vaults, while Spain's Alba Petisco secured bronze with 12.916.

Tisha Volleman led a Dutch one-two in the women's uneven bars, scoring 13.333 while her compatriot Sanna Veerman achieved 13.166.

Belarusian Anastasiya Smantsar completed the top three with a 13.100.

The World Cup in Cottbus is set to conclude tomorrow with finals in the men's vault, parallel bars and high bar, and the women's beam and floor.
