Luc Tardif, the new President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), has expressed satisfaction over the response to the first ever comprehensive survey of member national associations (MNAs) seeking views on the development of the first global strategy for the sport.

At the start of February every MNA was sent an online, anonymous survey to complete, and with one week to go before its closure Tardif - who last September succeeded the longstanding incumbent as President, René Fasel - said he was inspired by the responses so far.

"Getting input from all of the IIHF members and external stakeholders is extremely important for the development of our new strategy," he said.

"We are watching the response rate carefully and are encouraged to see so many people actively participating in the survey.

"I would like to sincerely thank every MNA and stakeholder that has already replied, and I have no doubt that because our ice hockey community cares deeply about the future of ice hockey, we will get responses from them all by the time the survey closes next week."

The survey was sent to each IIHF MNA with the President or secretary general being required to complete it by the closing date of February 28.
