The International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) have opened the application process for the Master of Sport Administration scholarship programme for 2022-2023.

FISU member nations have been invited to submit candidates before the closing date of April 10, with one person able to receive the scholarship.

Preference will be given to top-level athletes, and achievements in sport, education and social activity, especially within FISU events, will be strongly preferred.

The programme "helps support FISU's important work in providing qualified students with leadership and growth opportunities in university sport", the organisation said.

"I am very delighted that the Russian International Olympic University is again supporting a FISU candidate with a scholarship this year," said FISU's senior Executive Committee member and chair of the Education Committee, Verena Burk.

"In these challenging times, it is important to have reliable partners by your side.

"And RIOU proves this through its long-standing cooperation with FISU.

"The FISU Education Committee hopes that this year's call will generate interest from many students worldwide who will take advantage of the opportunity it represents by applying."

Applicants need an official recommendation letter from their national or continental federation, a passport, a bachelor's certificate and an English language certificate.

RIOU was established in 2009 as part of an agreement with the Organising Committee of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

It is located in the Black Sea city and is considered a legacy of those Games as the world's first university dedicated to sport business education.
