Ski jumper Daniela Iraschko-Stolz has cut her season short after suffering from knee pain following her performance at Beijing 2022.

The 38-year-old was unable to train for weeks before the Winter Olympic Games.

The Austrian’s appearance in the Ski Jumping World Cup on New Year’s Day in Ljubno, Slovenia, was the last time she competitively skied in the lead up to the Olympics.

Iraschko-Stolz found that she could not jump shortly after participating.

Despite the injury, she competed in the women’s individual and mixed team events in Beijing.

Iraschko-Stolz finished 12th in the individual discipline, and fifth in the mixed team event with Lisa Eder, Stefan Kraft, Manuel Fettner.

She was disqualified in the first round of the mixed team for a suit violation because the International Ski Federation (FIS) believed her outfit size handed her an unfair advantage over her opponents.

Joining her in falling foul of the rules were Norway’s Silje Opseth and Anna Odine Stroem, Japan’s Sara Takanashi and Germany’s Katharina Althaus.

The skier will decide on her sporting future once she has recovered and begun training again in the weeks ahead.

Iraschko-Stolz has had a glittering ski jumping career so far, which includes a silver medal in the individual normal hill event at 2014 Sochi.

Three years earlier, she won her first gold at the Holmenkollen World Championships in the same discipline.

After a ten-year wait since her first World Championships title, she secured her second title, this time coming in the team normal hill.

Additionally, Iraschko-Stolz has won three silvers and three bronzes at the World Championships, as well as an overall title in 2015.
