Canada have progressed to the Pan Am Male Cup and Female Cup semi-finals today after closing out comfortable victories in Acapulco in Mexico.

It means both teams continue their objective to retain the two trophies.

On the men’s side of the tournament, Canada beat Guatemala 5-0 to top Group A.

They will play Mexico, who produced a 5-0 victory of their own to qualify for the next round.

The other tie sees the United States take on Brazil.

Meanwhile, the Canadian women’s team also topped Group A after replicating a 5-0 result against Peru.

The dominating performance means the champions have booked a rematch against Guatemala in the semi-finals.

The second women's tie includes a Group B rematch between the US and Brazil.

However, heading into the game the US will feel the happier of the two teams as they defeated Brazil 5-0 in the dead rubber group fixture.

In the ties which decided who came fifth and sixth in the tournament, Guatemala beat Peru 3-1 in the Male Cup whilst Mexico overcame Peru 3-1 in the Female Cup.

The semi-finals are set to be played tomorrow.

The teams that win the men's and women's trophies will qualify for the finals for the Thomas and Uber Cup.
