Canada are defending both titles at the Pan Am Male and Female Cup, which is due to get underway in Acapulco tomorrow.

Lima 2019 Pan American Games gold medallists Nyl Yakura and Joshua Hurlburt-Yu headline the Canadian men's team, whose biggest challenge could well come from the host nation.

It was Mexico who Canada defeated in the 2020 final in Salvador in Brazil, and Lino Muñoz has been earmarked as the leader of the Mexican side this time around.

Canada, Mexico, the United States, Peru, Guatemala and Brazil are the six teams competing in both the men's and women's tournaments.

The US reached the women's final in 2020, going down 3-0.

Canada's team is expected to be much-changed in Acapulco, with Josephine Wu - who won Lima 2019 mixed doubles gold alongside Hurlburt-Yu - one of the leading lights.

Brazil, bronze medallists in 2020, can call on sisters Jaqueline and Sâmia Lima.

The tournament is expected to last four days and the draw has been made.

Canada, Peru and Guatemala are in women's Group A, with the US, Mexico and Brazil in Group B.

The top two in each advance to the semi-finals.

Canada, Guatemala and the US are in men's Group A, with Brazil, Peru and the hosts in Group B.

Event winners will qualify for the finals for the Thomas and Uber Cup.
