Lebanese Olympic Committee (LOC) President Boutros Edmond Jalkh has called for closer cooperation between his organisation and the Chinese Olympic Committee.

Jalkh addressed the Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Qian Minjian during his visit to the LOC headquarters in Baabda.

Qian proposed a collaboration agreement between the two National Olympic Committee while thanking Jalkh and LOC secretary general Hassan Rustom for the reception.

The pair also discussed Lebanon's preparations for participation in the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, due to take place from February 4 until 20.

Qian also briefed the LOC on the COVID-19 countermeasures taken by the Chinese Government and the Games' Organising Committee before both parties exchanged souvenirs.

It is set to be the country's 18th appearance at the Winter Olympics since St Moritz 1948 as they remain in search of their first medal at the event.

Lebanon is set to represented by Cesar Arnouk and Manon Ouassis in Alpine skiing and Elie Tawk in cross-country skiing.

Arnouk qualified for Beijing 2022 after taking victory in the men's slalom competition in Lebanon's Cedars event during the 2020-2021 season.

Ouaiss was on the verge of qualifying for Pyeongchang 2018 but was ruled out from after suffering a broken collar bone and a torn cruciate ligament.

The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the country's most gifted skiers in recent years.

She is a three-time gold medallist at the 2021 Alpine Skiing SES Cup, silver medallist in the Asian Alpine Ski Championships and has represented Lebanon in the Alpine Ski World Cup.

Tawk has also made it onto the team after finishing 54th in the International Ski Federation Nordic Ski World Championships.
