Portugal consolidated their position as the top team in Group A at the UEFA Futsal Euro 2022 by beating hosts The Netherlands at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, edging them closer to the top seeding in the quarter-finals.

The defending champions emerged with a 4-1 win, helped early on by an own goal scored by Dutch captain Oualid Saadouni in the sixth minute.

Pany Varela got a double after 23 minutes to make it a tough journey back for the hosts, who could only claw one back through Lahcen Bouyouzan late on.

A late goal through Afonso Jesus re-established the three-goal cushion to ensure the champions kept in front.

Ukraine were also comfortable in victory against Serbia, winning 6-1.

Mykhailo Zvarych was one of two players to score a brace, having opened the scoring after two minutes.

The second came from a Kristijan Vasic own goal, before Danyil Abakshyn scored a quick double to make it 4-0 at half-time.

Zvarych made it five to Ukraine before Ihor Korsun added the sixth.

Dragan Tomić scored a consolation goal a minute from the end.

Competition continues tomorrow in Group B between Italy and Slovenia, followed by Finland against Kazakhstan.
