Germany’s Julia Taubitz and Austria’s Madeleine Egle will compete for the overall women’s title as the Luge World Cup season concludes in St Moritz.

Egle’s fifth win of the season in Oberhof last week kept her chances of winning the title alive heading into the final event.

Taubitz still holds the advantage having accrued 919 points in the 11 races contested to date, with Egle lying second on 862.

Taubitz, the 2021 world champion, will be hoping to win the Luge World Cup title for the second time after finishing top of the 2019 to 2020 leaderboard.

"For me, the last race is still about the overall World Cup, which is important to me," Taubitz said.

"And after that the focus is on the Olympics."

Germany’s Johannes Ludwig has already been confirmed as the men’s World Cup champion.

He will hope to head to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics on a high by securing a fifth World Cup win of the season.

The men’s doubles title will be determined by the final World Cup race, with Andris and Juris Šics currently leading the standings.

The Latvians have 828 points, with second placed Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken now 21 points adrift.

Eggert and Benecken's disqualification from the World Cup in Winterberg has been annulled, with the pair now receiving an additional 16 points after their result was changed to a did not finish.

The two-day event in Switzerland will also feature a team relay competition, with Germany holding a 31 point lead over Austria heading into the final event.

The World Cup will also double as the European Championships.
