The 2022 Icestocksport World Championships are scheduled to take place in Ritten next month, with an International Federation Icestocksport (IFI) elective Congress also on the calendar in Italy.

Set to run from February 22 to 27, it is to be the 14th edition of the IFI's flagship World Championships.

A mixed team target competition is also scheduled on the day of the finals.

The World Championships will follow on from the Under-23 Icestocksport World Championships and Under-19 and Under-16 European Championships.

In between the sporting action, the IFI Congress is scheduled for February 20 in the central village of Klobenstein.

Elections, including for President, top the agenda.

IFI President Christian Lindner will be up for re-election for the first time.

Acceptance of new member nations, approval of minutes from the last Congress, activity reports, amendments to statutes and the formation of an Election Committee are also on the agenda.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IFI said it is not able to cover the same subsidies as it previously did for participating teams at the World Championships.

Allocated subsidies are to be announced next week.

COVID-19 countermeasures are to be in place at the outdoor Ritten Arena, including mandatory vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.

A final hygiene concept will be provided 10 days prior to the start of the competition.

The IFI has full International Olympic Committee recognition as of last year's Session in Tokyo, and was a demonstration sport at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer in Norway.
