Cairo played host to a teqball tournament organised by korAddiction Sports and Entertainment and the Baheya Foundation which helped to raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer.

The event featured 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams, all of whom were female.

The objective was to support the Baheya Foundation's breast cancer awareness campaign with all revenue generated throughout the day donated to the organisation.

The Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Women's Breast Cancer was established as a non-profit charity.

It treats women who suffer from breast cancer free of charge and since its foundation in 2015 it has helped approximately 130,000 women with early examination, diagnosis and tumour detection.

Organisers also put on the event to promote a safe environment at the FOOTGENiX facility in the Egyptian capital where women and girls can practice and enjoy football and teqball.

During the event, cancer survivor Heidi Siyam shared her story with all the participants and highlighted the importance of detecting breast cancer early.

The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) praised the organisers for staging the event and supporting the cause whilst also pointing out the FITEQ Sustainable Development Handbook which acts as a guide to national federations and clubs to help them create impactful projects in their local communities.
