Norway claimed a dominant victory in the mixed relay at the International Biathlon Union World Cup in Oberhof.

The team of Johannes Thingnes and Tarjei Bø, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Marte Olsbu Røiseland were unchallenged in a wire-to-wire win at the German venue.

They finished the 4x7.5 kilometres race in 1hr 28min and 51.4sec, 23.1sec clear of Belarus in second.

France, led by a sterling anchor leg from Julia Simon, crossed the line in third, 2min 01.3sec slower than the triumphant Norwegian quartet.

"It was not easy," said Røiseland.

"I know that Hanna Sola is really strong these days.

"I heard some not positive feedback from the coaches in the first loop.

"But I just tried to keep focused and do my job in the shooting range.

"Luckily for me, I have super teammates that made this possible so I have to thank them."

Kristina Reztsova and Anton Babikov of Russia won a wind-affected single mixed relay competition.

The Russian duo clocked 41:37.1 to clinch a superb victory as several of their rivals struggled in the difficult conditions.

Reztsova and Babikov were 41.5 quicker than nearest challengers Austria, thanks largely to the former's anchor leg.

Lisa Theresa Hauser and Simon Eder guided Austria to the silver medal, while Ukraine's Artem Tyshchenko and Darya Blashko were third, 1:03.6 back.

"I knew we could do it," said Babikov.

"Today, all the girls fell down after the start of the race because of too much wind.

"All the men were really fast, but after Kristina’s leg, I knew that we could do it and I tried to put all my power in the second leg.

"I am really happy."

The World Cup in Oberhof concludes tomorrow.
