National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President Alfred Foloko has been appointed to the Development Commission of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), which aims to improve the organisation's governance.

The Commission will monitor and evaluate ANOCA's development strategy, as well as forming targets for National Olympic Committees, National Federations and athletes.

ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf informed Foloko of the appointment by a letter dated December 13.

It expressed ANOCA's gratitude for Foloko's work as NOCZ President and serving African sports.

Berraf added: "I am further glad to convey to you that you have been appointed as a member of the ANOCA Development Commission for 2021-2024. 

"You would be working alongside the chairperson, Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum."

The letter adds that Foloko's "deserved appointment" will be the for the "benefit of the entire African sport movement."

The NCOZ expressed its congratulations to Foloko.

Foloko was first elected as NCOZ President in 2017, before being re-elected earlier this year.
