Mexico won both their games at the World Baseball Softball Confederation Under-18 Women's Softball World Cup today, keeping their bronze-medal hopes alive in the process, while Chinese Taipei have confirmed their place in the gold-medal match.

They started the day with a 7-0 thumping of Colombia, before returning in the afternoon and squeezing past The Netherlands 3-0.

Chinese Taipei continued their excellent form at the competition, defeating the Czech Republic 1-0 to remain unbeaten.

They sit top of the standings and have secured their place in the gold-medal match, where they are near certain to play the United States.

The Czech Republic are not out of medal contention, with the other team in the running, Puerto Rico, besting The Netherlands 10-4 to secure their fourth win of the competition and remain in third in the standings. 

The top two teams will play in the gold-medal match, while third and fourth will contest bronze.

The US, who are bidding for a fourth consecutive title, play hosts Peru in the late game.
