Russia’s Maxim Burov maintained his 100 per cent record in this season’s International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Aerials World Cup by completing a hat-trick of wins in Ruka.

Burov, who claimed back-to-back wins at the Finnish resort last weekend, achieved the highest score in qualification at the third stage of the World Cup with 129.65.

The reigning world champion then continued his form in the first run of the final by scoring 130.98, followed by Chinese pair Jia Zongyang and Qi Guangpu on 127.60 and 126.99.

The trio would ultimately form the podium, after starring again in the second run of the final.

Burov received a score of 133.48 points to clinch a hat-trick of wins in Ruka this season, while Jia and Qi scored 129.21 and 123.98, respectively.

Burov’s older brother Ilia, the Pyeongchang 2018 bronze medallist, placed fourth on 112.67.

Three consecutive wins have seen Burov establish a convincing lead in the overall World Cup standings as he seeks to defend his title.

Burov leads on 300 points, with Jia in second place on 170.

The women’s competition produced a third different winner of the season, with Ukraine’s Anastasiya Novosad clinching a maiden World Cup triumph.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the season by recording a seventh-place finish in the opening event, before ending fourth in the second competition in Ruka.

Novosad qualified for the second run of today’s final by scoring 88.51 points in the first run, tying with compatriot Olga Polyuk.

The second run saw Novosad receive a score of 98.70 to comfortably win the competition.

China’s Xu Mengtao, the winner of the second competition in Ruka last week, finished as the runner-up on 91.83.

Polyuk finished some way adrift of the top two on 79.75 points, but her score proved enough for third.

Xu now leads the overall World Cup standings on 220 points, with Chinese team-mate Kong Fanyu second on 192.

Victory saw Novosad rise to third place overall on 186.

Aerials competition will continue in Ruka tomorrow.
