Tomorrow the first leg of parallel giant slalom is scheduled to take place, followed by the first parallel slalom on Sunday (December 12).

They are the first two events of 11 this season.

Youngster Dmitry Loginov won both men's legs last season at the Russian ski resort and is the 2019 world champion in both events.

Russia dominated at the event, but do not expect similar results this year.

Italian Fischnaller is the defending champion and won last season's opener on home snow at Cortina d'Ampezzo in the parallel giant slalom in front of his compatriot and another key contender - Aaron March.

Austrian Benjamin Karl will be among the standouts in the giant slalom too.

Karl's team-mate Andreas Prommegger, the 2021 silver medallist, will have a good chance of adding to his medal cabinet too.

In the women's World Cup, Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister won three races last season to claim the Crystal Globe, including in parallel giant slalom at Lake Bannoye.

The parallel slalom silver medallist from this season faces opposition particularly from Swiss snowboarder Julie Zogg and Russian Sofia Nadyrshina.

Nadyrshina's form was more prominent in January 2021 last season, while Zogg finished the World Cup campaign with two wins and a third-place finish.

Other contenders include Austrian Daniela Ulbing and Germans Cheyenne Loch and Selina Jörg.
