Hosts Spain, who are aiming to go one better than their silver medal in 2019, continued their perfect start to the International Handball Federation (IHF) Women's World Championship and secured their place in the knockout stages.

Spain defeated China comfortably, running out 33-18 victors.

Also in Group H, Austria lost their first match of the tournament, losing to Argentina 31-29.

In Group F, Asian champions South Korea bested Tunisia 31-29 to win their second match of the competition and qualify for the knockout rounds.

Denmark defeated the Congo 33-18 to maintain top spot in the group and are also safely through.

Group G leaders Japan lost their first match of the Championship as Brazil won 29-25.

Paraguay lost 38-16 to Croatia earlier in the day.

Finally, in Group E, the top two teams, Hungary and Germany both secured their knockout places, beating the Czech Republic and Slovakia respectively.

The other four groups will be in action tomorrow, including Olympic champions France, defending champions The Netherlands and European queens Norway.
