Former World Curling Federation (WCF) secretary general Mike Thomson and Swedish double Olympic champions Team Norberg, have been honoured by the world governing body for their "outstanding service" and "Olympic achievement" respectively, being inducted into the WCF Hall of Fame.

They were given their awards at the European Curling Championships in the Norwegian town of Lillehammer, before being inducted into the Hall of Fame by the WCF President Kate Caithness.

Thomson was inducted as a "builder", recognised for his 16-year tenure as secretary general of the organisation from 1990 until his retirement in 2010.

Before his appointment, he was a staff member at the Royal Caledonian Curling Club, now known as Scottish Curling.

He was pivotal to curling's reintroduction to the Winter Olympics, which returned for Nagano 1998 and has remained since.

Thomson also oversaw wheelchair curling's debut in the Paralympic Games at Turin 2006.

During their partnership from 2003 to 2010, they claimed numerous gold medals, including two Olympic titles at Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

There were three consecutive golds at the European Championships from 2003 to 2005, as well as another title in 2007.

They also won back-to-back World Championships gold medals in 2005 and 2006.
