FITEQ officials, including secretary general Marius Vizer Jr, met with representatives from the Polish Olympic Committee, the Polish Teqball Federation and regional authorities during the trip.

They also visited the Gliwice Arena, the venue for the Championships due to take place from December 8 until 11.

FITEQ is pressing ahead with plans to stage the tournament despite a rise in COVID-19 cases across Europe and concerns over the emergence of the new Omicron variant of coronavirus.

"We are very pleased with the status of the preparations for our flagship event," said Vizer Jr.

"FITEQ’s collaboration with the Polish Teqball Federation, in addition to the support from the Polish Olympic Committee and the authorities in Poland, will ensure this is an event of the highest standard. 

"Poland is one the world’s leading teqball countries and we are excited to see a passionate crowd cheer on the best teqers from all corners of the globe."

After the World Championships, FITEQ is due to host its General Assembly on December 12.

This will remain as a virtual event, as previously announced in October.

FITEQ has staged three World Championships in the history of the rapidly growing sport.

The first was in Hungarian capital Budapest in 2017, which held the event again in 2019.

French city Reims hosted the 2018 edition, but the 2020 World Championships were postponed because of the pandemic.
