Singapore's Maximilian Maeder claimed the KiteFoil World Series gold medal in the Canary Islands, sealing victory with two wins in his final three races to defeat Axel Mazella of France.

The 15-year-old had a poor period between rounds four and seven, but was then ever-present in the top three in Fuerteventura for the closing five races.

Fourth- and fifth-placed finishes were followed by discarded results in 20th and 14th; before Maeder won four of his last five races to finish on a net total of 13.

Mazella won races seven and eleven and was well clear in second on a score of 17, with Connor Bainbridge of Britain - the winner of race four - third on 25.

Croatian Martin Dolenc was fourth on 32, finishing with a win in race five to his name, followed by Russian Yachting Federation's (RYF) Denis Taradin in fifth on 40 and Riccardo Pianosi of Italy in sixth on 46.

Poema Newland of France was the top women's finisher in 18th overall with a net total of 142. 

Briton Ellie Aldridge was second in 21st overall on 174.

RYF's Valeria Garashchenko was third and 25th overall on 197.
