Spain's Carlos Alcaraz has been crowned the 2021 champion of the Next Gen Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Finals, after defeating American player Sebastian Korda in straight sets at the Allianz Cloud in Milan.

Alcaraz and Korda made it through to the final expectedly, as the number one and two seeds in the tournament.

The world number 32 prevailed as he claimed the title by beating the world number 39 in three sets 4-3, 4-2, 4-2.

Alcaraz has been in tremendous form in 2021, having defeated 2019 Next Gen ATP Finals winner Jannik Sinner of Italy last week.

At the Vienna Open, the 18-year-old vanquished three-time Grand Slam winner Britain's Sir Andy Murray and Italian world number seven Matteo Berrettini.

He also won against world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece at the US Open, making it to the quarter-finals.

Alcaraz is the first Spanish winner of the tournament, which was inaugurated in 2017.

Chung Hyeon of South Korea was the first victor in 2017, followed by Tsitsipas and Sinner respectively in the next two years.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was cancelled in 2020.

The tournament features the best men's players under the age of 21.
