World Sailing has extended its logistics deal with GAC Pindar as it continues its campaign to regain its place on the Paralympic Games programme at Los Angeles 2028.

Sailing's worldwide governing body said the company - the marine leisure, sports and events division of GAC UK - would "take on a leading role in supporting Para sailing" under the terms of the seven-year extension.

The new agreement, which will see GAC Pindar provide logistics solutions to Member National Authorities (MNAs), class associations, sailors and partners, will run through to December 31 in 2028.

World Sailing last month reignited its attempt to be readmitted to the Paralympics after it was dropped from the programme following the Rio 2016 Games.

It has launched its "Back the Bid #SailtoLA" campaign and outlined a series of strategic priorities to ensure it meets the requirements laid out by the International Paralympic Committee.

Increasing participation to 45 nations across six continents and bolstering the number of people under the age of 30 taking part in the sport by 20 per cent by 2023 are among World Sailing’s goals.

"Over the last decade we have been involved with the logistics of nearly every aspect in the sport of sailing, including the dizzy heights of The Americas Cup and what is now The Ocean Race," said GAC Pindar founding partner Andrew Pindar.

"But in many ways, our heartfelt support for Para sailing is the most important.

"That is why we are joining World Sailing and many others around the world in backing the bid for reinstatement of sailing at the Paralympics in Los Angeles."

World Sailing commercial director Scott Over welcomed the new agreement with GAC Pindar.

"GAC Pindar is a recognised leader in global logistics, and we are delighted to continue our relationship," said Over.

"Their expertise in marine leisure, sports and event logistics is unrivalled and provides MNAs, sailors and our partners with the ideal service provider for their unique needs.

"We are delighted to continue working with GAC Pindar and pursue our long-term shared vision for sustainable best practice in sport."
