Tahiti will host next year's Oceania Taekwondo Championships after the event was officially confirmed.

Newly-elected members of World Taekwondo Oceania (WTO) agreed to validate the tournament after meeting by videoconference.

The competition will be held in November 2022, alongside the Tahiti Open.

It was also agreed to confirm the President's Cup Oceania for Gold Coast in Australia, which will take place at the end of April or beginning of May.

The Gold Coast Open will also be staged during this time.

Attendees at the meeting also discussed the taekwondo tournament which will take place at the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands.

Last month, John Kotsifas was re-elected as President of WTO and eight other members were voted onto the organisation's Council.

Kotsifas first became President in 2015, was re-elected in 2017, and can now look towards another four years at the helm after running unopposed.
