The International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating continues tomorrow with the Grand Prix of Italy in Turin, with world champion Anna Shcherbakova of Russia set to make her debut.

Shcherbakova, who took gold at the women's singles in Stockholm, starts her Grand Prix season in Italy among a competitive field.

The 17-year-old will compete against Loena Hendrickx of Belgium and Japanese duo Satoko Miyahara and Mai Mihara for top spot.

Miyahara is a two-time world medallist, while Mihara finished fourth at the Skate Canada International.

Russia's Maiia Khromykh is one to watch having beat Shcherbakova at the Budapest Trophy, and her compatriot and 2019 European champion Sofia Samodurova has an outside chance.

The men’s event looks open with several strong contenders.

World silver medallist Yuma Kagiyama of Japan, 2018 world bronze medallist Mikhail Kolyada of Russia, his countryman 2020 European champion Dmitri Aliev and China's two-time world bronze medallist Boyang Jin are expected to battle it out for the podium spots.

Other contenders are Italian Daniel Grassl, Junhwan Cha of South Korea and Latvia's Deniss Vasiljevs, with all of them except Grassl competing in their first Grand Prix event this season.

Chinese duo Sui Wenjing and Han Cong lead the field in the pairs event.

The Pyeongchang 2018 silver medallists come fresh from a confident victory at the Skate Canada International and will secure their spot in the Grand Prix Final with a top of the table finish.

Last year's Four Continents silver medallists Peng Cheng and Jin Yang of China, Italy's Nicole Della Monica and Matteo Guarise and Russia's 2020 ISU world junior bronze medallists Iuliia Artemeva and Mikhail Nazarychev are also in the running to medal.

In the ice dance event, four-time world champions Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France face world silver medallist Americans Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue and four-time European medallists Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin of Russia.

The competition starts tomorrow with the men's, women’s and pairs short programmes and rhythm dance while the men's, women's and pairs free skating and free dance events conclude the tournament on November 6.

The exhibition gala then finishes the event on the following day.
