The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) has held an Extraordinary General Assembly session in Nairobi.

The first of the meetings during the session called for a consultative meeting between federations and the appointment of the NOCK Electoral Board, to conduct elections scheduled for November 16.

A second emergency General Assembly was then held to inform members of the forthcoming Electoral Assembly and process, as reported by The Standard.

The elections were due to take place on November 12, but were rescheduled to allow some of the Executive Board members to attend an International Olympic Committee meeting on that date, as reported by Daily Nation.

Former marathon world record holder Paul Tergat stood unopposed as NOCK President in 2017 and replaced Kipchoge Keino.

No individuals have publicly declared an interest in unseating Tergat, who will be running for a second and final term, according to the Daily Nation.

The 2017 elections were due to take place in May but were called off after a High Court order was issued.

The order was issued following a request by the Kenya Taekwondo Association, which had been banned from voting in the elections because of a leadership row at the organisation.

The elections subsequently took place in September of that year.

Speaking in September this year, Tergat said that the forthcoming elections must "demonstrate sobriety."

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will preside over the elections.
