The Germans were dominant on day one yesterday, victorious in the men's and women's skeleton, women's monobob and two-man bobsleigh.

They followed it up with two more victories on day two of the event, winning the two-woman bobsleigh and four-man bobsleigh as preparations for next year's Winter Olympics continue.

The Olympic test event, which is sanctioned by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation and is the first international competition at the Yanqing National Sliding Center, is being used as a measuring stick for the Winter Olympics, with many of the same COVID-19 protocols in place as will be installed at Beijing 2022.

On day two, Friedrich Francesco, Bauer Candy, Margis Thorsten and Schueller Alexander won the four-man bobsleigh in a time of 1min 59.23sec.

Another German team - Lochner Johannes, Weber Christopher, Rasp Christian, Bauer Florian and Fleischhauer Georg - finished in second, 0.30sec behind in 1:59.53.

Latvia's Oskars Kibermanis, Matiss Miknis, Davis Springis and Krists Lindenblats finished third in 1:59.89.

Laura Nolte Laura and Deborah Levi Deborah led home another German one-two in the two-woman bobsleigh, finishing in 2:04.99.

Mariama Jamanka and Vanessa Mark Vanessa finished 0.22sec off the pace in second, with Canada's Christine De Bruin Christine and Kristen Bujnowski third in a time of 2:05.38.

Two-hundred-and-forty athletes from 23 countries competed in the event across the two days, with competitors required to have taken two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, undergo daily testing and remain in the competition bubble.

Conditions will be similar at Beijing 2022, although a vaccine mandate is not included in the playbooks, published yesterday.
