Sakamoto led the standings after scoring 76.70 points in yesterday’s short programme at the Capital Indoor Stadium.

But Mihara, who trailed by 8.87, responded by registering 135.75 to top the free skating segment as Sakamoto came second with 125.58.

With a combined total of 203.58, Mihara secured victory by just 1.3 from Sakamoto who finished on 202.28.

"I wasn't as nervous as I was the day before," Mihara said in a report by Kyodo News.

"From start to finish I skated without losing my concentration, although I want to improve my accuracy on each jump."

Sakamoto had to settle for silver, while Hong Kong’s So Joanna edged out Chinese Taipei’s Ting Tzu-Han to bag bronze with 155.65.

Olympic Youth Games champion and world silver medallist Kagiyama maintained his day one lead to land the men’s title with 277.78.

After scoring 97.80 in the short programme, Kagiyama then topped the free skating rankings with 179.98 to take the honours.

Japan’s Shun Sato finished second in both disciplines to take silver with 256.16, while China’s Jin Boyang rose from sixth to clinch bronze with 224.09.

"If you look at it comprehensively, there were a lot of issues," said Kagiyama.

"I've added a new quad loop to my free program from this season, and I want to improve to the point that even if I mess up the quad loop, I'll still do a good job on my other quad jumps."

There was an all-Chinese field in the other two events in Beijing with Sui Wenjing and Han Cong winning the pairs contest with 223.48 and Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu securing the ice dance crown with 186.58.

The competition was a test event for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, scheduled to run from February 4 to 20.
