President and chief executive of the Salt Lake City-Utah Bid Committee Fraser Bullock has said a decision on whether they commit to the 2030 or 2034 Winter Olympics still has no set deadline as the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) focuses on the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Games.

Speaking to the media following a recent Governing Board meeting, Bullock again mentioned that the small window between the Los Angeles 2028 and a potential Salt Lake City 2030 Games could be difficult and that the feasibility study for this is still ongoing.

"The primary focus of the Olympic and Paralympic world is on Beijing and not having that focus on us yet is not a disadvantage," said Bullock in a video conference.

"We recognise we need to fit in certain windows.

"We understand that there is a passion from many people in our community who see it as, sooner is better.

"It has to be balanced with LA in 2028, we have to be very respectful and how do we manage back-to-back Games 18 months apart.

"We have to balance our passion of hosting the earlier Games [while noting the small window].

"Because it's a joint decision there are still a lot to do [with USOPC].

"It could be before Beijing and it could be after; and once we hit the end of the year it will also be focused on Beijing, but we will get our heads down and find a time that is comfortable."

During its meeting, the Board approved Steve Miller and USOPC designee Chris Waddell as members of the Executive Committee.

Also approved was the Nominations and Governance Committee Charter and the Approved Finance and Audit Committee Charter.

The Financial Policies and Procedures were amended too.

A bid for the 2030 Games would come 28 years after the city held the 2002 Winter Olympics and the organisers look to use the venues from that event.

Mentioned in its management updates, the Committee also hoped to have venue contracts put in place by the end of the year, noting its costs would be lower than the average bid due to existing infrastructure, while praising improvements since 2002 such as the airport and a proposed Athletes' Village at the University of Utah.

"All venues in active use - the venues are the foundational structure," added Bullock.

"We have superb venues all being used and a significant number of competitions continue as well as training and recreational use.

"We're in the fortunate position of every venue being in place and although there are 40 per cent more events, we can fit them into our infrastructure."

He hoped these could be implemented by the end of the year, and aimed for a deadline of the end of November to sign up 24,000 hotel rooms for the Games.

Bullock and Committee chair Catherine Raney Norman are to travel to Europe on the week of November 29 with a small delegation including USOPC representatives for two days of meetings with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

"We will renew and develop relationships, we will receive learning and feedback relative to the dialogue process and we will present our work to date," said Bullock about the upcoming visit.

Although a decision on what Games to bid for has not been confirmed yet, Bullock is not worried about time at the moment.

"Our bid document will be prepared which will be shared over time with the IOC and the International Paralympic Committee," he added.

"Fortunately we're still way ahead of when a traditional Games are awarded which is usually seven years before, so we don't feel like we have a particular squeeze.

"We want to take advantage of this energy and focus."

Vancouver and Sapporo are expected to bid to host the 2030 Games and there is a Barcelona-Pyrenees bid interest from Andorra, France and Spain.

Ukraine have also expressed interest in hosting the Games.

Quebec City in Canada, Schmalkalden in Germany and Lillehammer in Norway have all been tipped as potential hosts too.
