World number one Ali Farag progressed to the quarter-finals of the Oracle Netsuite Open after getting the better of Omar Mosaad in San Francisco.

The Egyptian pair took to the glass court at Embarcadero Plaza but left just 23 minutes later as the reigning world champion blitzed his opponent 11-4, 11-7.

The 29-year-old is set to play Joel Makin in the next round.

The Welshman outclassed Indian number one Saurav Ghosal 11-9, 11-6.

Tarek Momen beat American Spencer Lovejoy in a fantastic contest which finished 12-10, 11-9.

Mostafa Asal annihilated Mazen Hesham 11-3, 11-3 to make the last eight in another all-Egyptian battle, and will play compatriot Momen next.

Meanwhile in the women's draw, American number one Amanda Sobhy blew past Egypt's Nadine Shahin 11-3, 11-4, in a remarkable nine minutes.

She will face Welsh number one Tesni Evans after the eighth seed eased past American Olivia Fiechter 11-6, 11-7.

England's Sarah-Jane Perry is set to meet Joshna Chinappa of India in the next round as the pair both won in straight games against Egypt's Rowan Elaraby and Emily Whitlock of Wales, respectively.

All last-eight matches in both the men's and women's tournaments are scheduled to be played tomorrow.

Egypt dominates the men's draw as six of the eight players left represent the African country.

There is a more even spread for the women as six different nations are represented.
