Japanese duo Ao Yurikusa and Rei Kawamata both progressed to the Junior men's boulder semi-finals with respective scores of four tops and four zones in the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Youth Championships in Voronezh in Russia.

Britain's Hamish McArthur rounded out the top three after recording three tops and four zones.

Elsewhere in the competition, the youth A men's boulder semi-finals, the youth B men's and women's lead semi-final and the junior and youth A women's lead qualifications were also contested.

France's Mejdi Schalck continued his dominance in the youth A men's boulder semi-finals with three tops and four zones to narrowly beat Latvian Edvards Gruzitis and Isaac Leff of the United States who also scored three tops and four zones but needed more attempts to do so.

America's Anastasia Sanders booked her place into the final after leading the youth B women's lead semi-final.

France's Meije Lerondel and the Czech Republic's Barbora Bernadova scored 41+ and 38+, respectively, to make up the top three.

In the youth B men's lead semi-final there was a three-way tie between Japan's Sorato Anraku, Slovenian Gorazd Jurekovič and Timo Uznik of Austria.

The three climbers all achieved top scores, but Anraku was placed in first for recording the best score in qualifying.

There was another draw at the top of the table, this time in the junior women's lead qualifications.

Lucija Tarkus of Slovenia, France's Camille Pouget and Japanese athlete Nonoha Kume all clocked in a score of 2.24 to progress to the next round.

In the youth A women's lead qualifier Tarkus' compatriot Sara Copar and Italy's Alessia Mabboni shared pole position after they both achieved 2.24.

Bulgarian Aleksandra Totkova made up the top three with a score of 3.16.
