The first champions have been crowned at the United World Wrestling Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia, after medal matches took place in five men’s freestyle categories.

In the 57 kilograms category Ramazan Bagavudinov of Russia claimed the gold medal, after being given victory over Muhammet Karavus of Turkey, at the end of a contest had finished 11-11 on points.

Bronze medals in the division went to Manvel Khndzrtsyan of Armenia who beat Abdymalik Karachov of Kyrgyzstan 6-2 and Assylzhan Yessengeldi of Kazakhstan, who overcame Nuraddin Novruzov of Azerbaijan 12-6.

In the 65 kilograms category, gold went to Russia again this time courtesy of Shamil Mamedov, who overcame Ziraddin Bayramov of Azerbaijan 4-1.

Bronze medals went to Bekzat Yermekbay of Kazakhstan against Seyedhassan Seyedhossein Ebadimermeti of Iran 8-5, and to Beau Reynald Bartlett of the United States, who overcame Mustafo Akhmedov of Tajikistan 7-4.

Iran took gold in the 70 kilograms category courtesy of Erfan Mohammad Elahi who edged past Dzhabrail Gadzhiev of Azerbaijan 6-5.

The bronze medals went to Bryce Parker Andonian of the United States who beat Stanislav Novac of Moldova by technical superiority 18-8, and Stanislav Svinoboev of Russia who defeated Kevin Gerry Makota Stroem of Sweden by technical superiority 12-1.

There was further gold for Iran in the 79 kilograms category with Mohammad Ashghar Nokhodilarimi beating Ashraf Ashirov of Azerbaijan 7-5.

The bronze medals went to Mukhammad Abdullaev of Kyrgyzstan who beat Makhambet Nurzhaubayev of Kazakhstan 4-1, and Baliyan Gourav of India who overcame Germany’s Richard Schroeder 10-0 on technical superiority.

Finally, in the 97 kilograms category gold went to Braxton James Amos of the United States who beat Polat Polatci of Turkey 11-4.

Bronze medals in the division went to Deepak Deepak of India 3-2 against Milan Andras Korcsog of Hungary and Ali Reza Abbasali Abdollahi of Iran 5-4 against Radu Lefter of Moldova.

More men’s freestyle finals are scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Ufa Arena, in the 61, 74, 86, 92 and 125 kilograms categories.
