Annemiek Van Vleuten continued her impressive season by winning the Ladies Tour of Norway after finishing safely in the bunch on the final stage in Halden to triumph by 39 seconds.

Meanwhile, the final stage went to Chloe Hosking of Australia, riding for Trek-Segafredo, who after being unleashed from her Dutch team mate Lucinda Brand’s wheel with 300 metres to go showed her trademark speed to secure an emotional sprint victory.

Van Vleuten of Movistar, who leads the International Cycling Union Women’s WorldTour standings and won the women’s time trial at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, started the final day with a 39 second lead over Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, the South African who rides for SD Worx.

The Dutch rider stayed out of trouble and marked her closest rival in the general classification to win by the 39 second advantage she had started the day with.

Third place overall went to Kristen Faulkner of the United States, riding for Team Tibco-Silicon Valley Bank, who ended 50 seconds behind.

On the final stage, after the breakaway had been caught, Hosking, competing in her first race since March following a bout of sickness, outsprinted American Corin Rivera of Team DSM and Italy’s Chiara Consonni of Team Valcar to win the stage in a time of 3hrs 36min 6sec.

The polka dot jersey went to Nina Buysman of The Netherlands riding for Parkhotel Valkenburg, while New Zealand’s Niamh Fisher-Black, riding for SD Worx, won the best young rider competition, with SD Worx also claiming the team title.
