Armenia’s Elina Danielian leads a group of six players on five points after the sixth day of the European Individual Women's Chess Championship in the Romanian city of Iasi.

Fifteenth seed Danielian inflicted a second defeat of the tournament on top seed Nino Batsiashvili of Georgia, who is now 13th in the championship standings on four points.

Azerbaijan’s Gunay Mammadzada and Ukraine’s Iulija Osmak both remain unbeaten and sit second and third on five points after drawing their match.

Oliwia Kiolbasa of Poland inflicted a second consecutive defeat on Romania’s Irina Bulmaga, with the 43rd seed the lowest-ranked of the players on five points.

Alexsandra Maltsevskaya of Russia continued her unbeaten start to the tournament with a draw against Ukraine’s Nataliya Buksa, who has also not yet lost a game but sits on 4.5 points having drawn three of her six matches.

Georgia’s Meri Arabidze, the seventh seed, is the final player on five points as she overcame Poland’s Monika Socko, who remains on four points.

A further six players stand on 4.5 points after day six, including Buksa.

Poland’s Jolanta Zawadzka tops heads that group after victory against Azerbaijan’s Govhar Beydullayeva, followed by third seed Lela Javakhishvili of Georgia who leapfrogged Armenian opponent Maria Gevorgyan.

Deimante Daulyte-Cornette remains unbeaten on 4.5 after a win against Italy’s Marina Brunello, while Serbian Teodora Injac racked up a third straight victory against Armenia’s Anna M. Sargsyan.

Slovenia’s Laura Unuk is also on 4.5 points after beating compatriot Monika Rozman.

The top two seeds - both of Georgia - are among the 19 players on four points, with Batsiashvili joined by Bela Khotenashvili after the latter’s win against Germany’s Annmarie Muetsch.

The seventh of the 11th rounds of the European Individual Women's Chess Championship takes place on Monday, with tomorrow designated as a free day for competitors.
