The World Curling Federation (WCF) has appointed Scotland's Laura Mutch as its newest competitions and development officer (CDO).

Mutch, from Aberdeen, is a sport and exercise science graduate from Aberdeen University and has spent the last 13 years working at Curl Aberdeen as a development officer for Scottish Curling.

She has also worked as the assistant manager of the local curling club.

"I really enjoy working in curling and have learnt a lot from being part of a small team at Curl Aberdeen on many events," said Mutch.

"I am really looking forward to this new challenge and I’m excited to get started."

Head of competitions Eeva Roethlisberger and head of development Scott Arnold said they were delighted with her appointment.

"We couldn’t be happier having Laura agree to join the CDO team," said Roethlisberger.

"This will be a challenging season and having someone with Laura’s experience in the team will be invaluable."

Mutch is set to start her new role next Monday (August 16).

"Her breadth of knowledge in development and her extensive experience in competition management will be very welcome in what is expected to be a busy 2021–2022 season," added Arnold.

She joins Jiri Snitil and Karri Willms, who hold the same positions as her.
