Another update now on Tsimanouskaya, who has arrived at the Polish Embassy in Tokyo after refusing to board her flight back to Minsk last night.

The IOC confirmed this morning that the Belarusian athlete was "safe" and had spent the night at a hotel.

The 24-year-old, whose story has attracted global headlines, was pictured at the Polish Embassy today.

Poland and the Czech Republic had offered her help after she claimed Belarusian officials told her to pack her bags and leave Tokyo following her criticism of her coaches on social media.

It had also been reported the Czech Embassy was in discussion with Japanese officials regarding the sprinter, who was forced to miss the 200m this morning.

The IOC said it was in regular contact with Tsimanouskaya.
