USA Luge has announced Fibre Glast Developments Corporation as a new official supplier until 2022.

The American company is known for its catalogue of composite materials and supplies, and USA Luge's coaching staff have been using Fibre Glast products on sled-development projects for the past year.

The relationship has now developed into a professional agreement, with the Ohio-based company contracted retroactively from July 1 2021 to June 30 2022.

USA Luge personnel will have access to the full Fibre Glast catalogue under the deal.

"We first came to Fibre Glast as customers, with our coaching and technical staff being big fans of the company," said Gordy Sheer, USA Luge director of marketing and sponsorships and a doubles luge silver medallist at the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics.

"As soon as they were informed that we have an official deal, the coaches and technicians were asking when they could place an order for materials."

As a result of the partnership, Fibre Glast will have a presence on the USA Luge website, is entitled to use the organisation’s logo, photos and marks, and will have a social media presence throughout the period of the agreement.

"We are thrilled and proud to be a part of USA Luge family in their quest for the podium in Beijing, February 2022," said Mark Knight, chief executive of Fibre Glast Developments Corporation.

"This is a talented and exciting team, and we can’t wait to see how fast they will go."

This is a critical period for USA Luge, with fewer than seven months to go until the next Winter Olympics.

Luge has featured at every Winter Olympics since 1964 and a team relay was introduced at Sochi 2014.

The United States has won six Olympic medals in the luge events - with three silver and three bronze - and Chris Mazdzer was the men's singles runner-up at Pyeongchang 2018.
