Data-driven sport and entertainment agency Quantum Consultancy has been appointed by the International World Games Association (IWGA) to conduct an evaluation of the Birmingham 2022 World Games.

This appointment was made in collaboration with the Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee.

Quantum is set to consult with IWGA stakeholders, International Federations, National Olympic Committees and operational staff to assess the impact of the event across economic, social and sustainability factors.

"Our goal is to continuously develop the World Games," said IWGA chief executive Joachim Gossow.

"We want to become better for our athletes, for our stakeholders and of course we want to be able to offer an attractive and unique multi-sport event to future host cities.

"The prerequisite for this is an intense evaluation of the last event.

"We are convinced that in Quantum we have found a partner who can provide us with the necessary data and also interpret these facts and figures together with us.

"Our partners in Birmingham will receive all the necessary information to enable them to check whether they have achieved their goals.

"At the same time, such a study is a legacy for future events in the city.

"We are sure too that our upcoming host for the 2025 World Games, Chengdu in China, will benefit from the findings of this evaluation and what can be learnt from them."

Following the evaluation, a list of recommendations is set to be compiled to support the future direction of the IWGA and its members.

"The World Games 2022 will be one of the first multi-sport events for which the return of full capacity venues are anticipated," Colin Stewart, Quantum co-founder and director of consulting, said.

"This makes it all the more important to be evaluating event impacts as well as understanding the views and experiences of different stakeholder groups attending the event.

"We are delighted to be supporting the IWGA and BOC by implementing our event evaluation and monitoring processes."

The Birmingham 2022 World Games are due to take place from July 7 to 17 in 2022, having been delayed by a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
