Renovations include a redecoration, new lighting, flooring, carpets and fully refurbished toilets.

Wi-fi and its public address system has been improved, while a new cafe patio has been added too.

The improvements have been managed and delivered by the Warwick District Council and made possible by grant funding of almost £1.6 million ($2.3 million/€1.9 million) allocated from the United Kingdom Government's Local Growth Fund through the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Warwick District Council is also working with Bowls England to promote the sport for young people in schools.

"We are very proud at Warwick District Council to be hosting the lawn bowls and Para-bowls at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the work carried out to improve the bowls clubhouse in Victoria Park will provide Royal Leamington Spa with a world-class facility for bowls players in the district, the wider community and the next generation of players," said Warwick District Council's portfolio holder for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, Councillor Liam Bartlett.

"Our partnership with Bowls England in the Junior Bowls Challenge has provided children in the district with a unique opportunity to try lawn bowls for the first time and hopefully see some of these players at Commonwealth Games and National Bowls Championships in the future."

Lawn bowls is one of 22 sports on the programme for Birmingham 2022 and is regarded as a core sport of the Games.

It has been part of the Commonwealth Games at every edition except 1966 in Kingston.

Birmingham 2022 is set to be held from July 28 to August 8 2022.
