Yuka Saso holds the halfway lead at the US Women's Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco following a four-under-par round of 67.

The Asian Games champion, who will turn 20 later this month, made six birdies and two bogeys in round two, moving to six under par for the tournament.

The Filipino holds a one-shot lead over 2019 champion Lee Jeong-eun of South Korea, who is often known as "Jeongeun Lee6".

Lee also shot 67 in round two, and finished with three birdies in the last four holes to climb the leaderboard.

Americans Megan Khang  and Megha Ganne, an amateur who was tied for the lead after round one, are two shots off the leader Saso.

Olympic champion Park Inbee of South Korea - a seven-time major winner - and the United States' Lexi Thompson, who has won one, are four shots back and within striking distance.

They are tied for sixth with England's Mel Reid, who shot a two-over 73 to slip back from holding a share of the 18-hole lead.

China's Feng Shanshan is alone in fifth, three strokes under par.

Kim A-lim of South Korea, the defending champion, missed the cut.

American Sarah Burnham produced the best round of the tournament so far, a five-under 66, to move to even overall and is in a tie for 12th place.

The US Women's Open, the second ladies' major of the season, is due to be concluded on Sunday (June 6).
