The ceremony was held alongside well-known monuments in the country’s capital city Zagreb.

Athletes, coaches, volunteers and teachers were honoured for their efforts during the 2018-2019 and the 2019-2020 seasons.

The University of Zagreb’s table tennis squad were named Women’s Team of the Year for 2018-2019, with the men’s award going to its beach handball team.

Karate athletes Lucija Lesjak and Karlo Raguz were the winners of the individual awards for the season.

The University of Zagreb also earned the 2019-2020 team prizes.

Its beach volleyball team earned the women’s award, while the men’s basketball team was also honoured.

Ante Zuzul, a member of the basketball team, earned the prize for men’s athlete of the year.

Handball’s Andrea Simara earned the women’s prize.

The award ceremony sought to bring together athletes and officials from different sporting codes.

Political representatives and members of the community of Croatian and international university sports were also present.
