The United States secured a clean sweep of men’s freestyle titles as the Pan American Wrestling Championships concluded in Guatemala.

Thomas Gantt Jr and Nathan Jackson had earned the first men’s freestyle titles yesterday at the Teodoro Palacios Flores National Gymnasium in Guatemala City and their team mates followed suit today.

Two-time world champion Kyle Dake triumphed in the men’s under-74 kilograms freestyle competition as he prepares to compete at Tokyo 2020.

Dake will represent his nation in Tokyo after beating London 2012 Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs in a head-to-head contest at the country’s trials last month.

His preparations appear on track after winning the Pan American title due to a victory by superiority after he opened up a 10-0 lead over Mexico’s Victor Hernandez Luna.

Dominican Republic’s Julio Rodriquez Romero and Puerto Rico’s Jonathan Parrilla Ramos rounded off the podium.

Vitali Arujau triumphed in the same manner as Dake in the 57kg final as he established a 10-0 advantage over Mexico’s Roberto Alejandro Blanco.

Bronze medals were secured by Dominican Republic’s Alexander Fernandez Pera and Peru’s Samuel Alva.

The 61kg event saw a tightly contested final as American Shelton Mack earned a 2-0 victory against Dominican Republic’s Juan Ramirez Beltre.

The sole bronze medal in the division was awarded to Jorge Olvera as the Mexican wrestler secured a 3-1 win over Guatemala’s Esteban Castellanos.

Joseph McKenna triumphed in the 65kg freestyle competition by earning a 10-0 win over Brazil’s Macros De Brito Siquiera in the final.

The bronze medals were claimed by Dominican Republic’s Albaro Camacho and Jonnathan Castellanos of Guatemala.

Further American success came in the men’s 70kg competition as Alec Pantaleo overcame Chile’s Carlos Romero Millaqueo 12-0 to take gold.

They were joined on the podium by Canada’s Vincent de Marinis and Guatemala’s Enrique Castellanos.

Reigning Olympic champion Kyle Snyder was crowned men’s 97kg gold medallist as the American eased to an 11-0 win over Luis Miguel Sosa of the Dominican Republic in the final.

Costa Rica’s Maxwell Garita was a 12-6 winner against Brazil’s Marcos Carrozzino in the bronze medal bout.

David Taylor earned the third Pan American title of his career in the 86kg division.

The American, who won the world title in 2018, beat Canada’s Clayton Pye 10-0 in the final.

Bronze medals were secured by Mexico’s Noel Toress Chacon and Brazil’s Thales Reis Alves.

The US clean sweep was completed by Gable Steveson, who overcame Canada’s Aly Barghout 10-0 in the men’s 125kg final.

Argentina’s Catriel Muriel won 5-1 against Mexico’s Eduardo Garcia in the bronze medal bout.
